What's New For the 2020 Volkswagen Golf?

When you think of iconic cars on the market, the VW Golf is one that comes to mind. That is certainly no mistake, considering the Golf is one of the most popular and best-selling cars in the world. The VW Golf is known for its sporty look and feel, and its exceptional handling. In 2020, the Golf retains its characteristic fan-favorite features. This year, however, it also gets a fresh new look. The 2020 model year marks the start of the eighth generation of the VW Golf. The latest Golf features some of the brand's latest and greatest features, including a cutting-edge vehicle communications system called "Car2X."

The Golf is also now available for the first time with a wide selection of gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains. In total, you have an unprecedented ten powertrain options to choose from. The Golf also has a broader range of options for those seeking a personalized finish. More exterior colors are available this year, and you can get more creature comforts and technology such as wireless device charging. Parking sensors and more standard driver-assist safety aids are also standard or optional based on trim. Sporty seats are now included in the Golf, and its exterior features an upgrade to bold LED lights. Several features are optional, too, primarily based on the trim level.

Which Trims & Features are Available in 2020?

The 2020 VW Golf offers four trim levels. The base trim is called the Golf. It is followed by the Life, the third-level trim called Style, and the R-Line, which tops the line with the most standard and optional features. The base trim comes loaded with a We Connect infotainment system and a digital cockpit for the driver. This trim's standard safety features include lane-keep assist, forward collision warning, and the brand's new Car2X communication system. The exterior features bold LED lights and a suite of stylish and fun colors.

The Life trim adds standard wireless phone charging. It also gets premium LED lights and three-zone climate control. The R-Line trim has a sporty exterior with race-inspired touches inside and out. It also gets upgraded premium sport seats. An advanced steering system and a variety of drive modes are additional highlights. A number of features are available, too, including a head-up display, more entertainment features, adaptive headlights, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

A Perfect Blend of Power and Fuel Efficiency

2020 Volkswagen GolfThere will be two V3 engines that range in power from 90 to 110 HP in this year's Golf. You can also select one of two four-cylinder engines that range from 115 to 150 HP. You can choose from several hybrid engines as well. The hybrid engines range from 108 to 147 HP. The eHybrid plug-in reaches 150 HP, and the top engine gets up to 241 HP.
