Like many people, you're probably accustomed to spotting Volkswagen vehicles on the road. Now, you can experience your favorite models, along with Volkswagen classics, at a special exhibit dedicated to celebrating Volkswagen in America.
Volkswagen has partnered with the Simeone Foundation Auto Museum in Philadelphia, PA, to create a unique exhibit commemorating 75 years of Volkswagen production in the United States. Running through January 12, 2025, the exhibit features a collection of Volkswagen's most iconic models while showcasing key milestones in the automaker's U.S. history.
This exhibit takes visitors on a journey through Volkswagen's early days in the U.S., with highlights including classic models. It also offers a glimpse into the brand's future, featuring the Volkswagen ID.Buzz, a new electric vehicle. Among the vehicles on display are a vintage 1949 Beetle, a 1967 Volkswagen bus with 21 windows, and a 1984 Volkswagen GTI. Each vehicle is accompanied by detailed information, allowing visitors to explore the history behind these models and their role in shaping both Volkswagen's legacy and U.S. car culture.
About Volkswagen
While the exhibit focuses on Volkswagen's success in the U.S., the company's roots trace back to Germany. Established in the early 1930s under the name “Volkswagen Group,” the automaker built its reputation on producing practical, affordable vehicles. The name “Volkswagen” translates to “the people's car,” reflecting its mission to create accessible transportation. Over time, the brand became a dominant force in Germany and expanded its influence globally.
Volkswagen's most iconic model is the Beetle, but today the company offers a diverse lineup to meet the needs of modern drivers, including sedans, SUVs, and electric vehicles. Popular U.S. models include the Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, Golf, ID.4, Jetta, Tiguan, and Taos. The company's main U.S. production facility is located in Tennessee.
