What's New For the 2020 Volkswagen Arteon?

An all-new sedan-style hatchback introduced for the 2019 model year, the Arteon fits nicely into an already crowded niche. It's affordable, comes with a pleasing array of standard features, and keeps pace with competing models in the high-tech department. The new 2020 models see some feature additions, and many of the optional features for 2019 are now standard. These include Wi-Fi and, on the SEL trim, 20-inch wheels. Below is a more comprehensive review of the new 2020 models.

2020 Volkswagen Arteon Interior

2020 VW Arteon Has Abundant Features

The hatchback-style Arteon is available in a total of five trims. The base SE comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, heated mirrors, LED headlights, keyless entry, tri-zone automatic climate control, and simulated leather upholstery. Tech features include an 8-inch screen display, the Car-Net smartphone app integration, and an eight-speaker sound system with satellite radio. The SEL adds on adaptive headlights with cornering lights, remote ignition, a sunroof, leather upholstery, and navigation.

The uplevel trims boast such niceties as larger wheels, automatic high beams, ventilated front seats, a hands-free liftgate, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, driver seat massage, and three-color interior ambient lighting. The SEL Premium comes with an upgraded stereo system, and the R-Line trims boast dressy exterior upgrades, including a sporty front bumper, 20-inch wheels, and exterior trim accents. The R-Line models also have interior contrast stitching, metal pedals, and metal scuff plates.

VW Arteon Performance

2020 Volkswagen ArteonAll Arteon versions are powered by a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine rated at 268 horsepower. The engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The SE is front-wheel drive, and the other trims are equipped with the VW 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. Steering and handling are the big selling points here.

The steering has just enough resistance buildup during cornering, and the vehicle handles nicely around tight turns. Body roll is insignificant, and the turning radius is impressive. The selectable driving modes include Comfort and Normal. In Sport mode, the car handles even better, especially around high-speed turns. The R-Line package will appeal to all who want to experience a more sporty drive because of the inclusion of the paddle shifters.

VW Arteon Safety In the Forefront

2020 Volkswagen ArteonEvery 2020 Volkswagen Arteon comes equipped with stability and traction control, 4-wheel ABS, antilock brakes, and a rearview camera. The standard advanced safety features include a forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor, and driver alerts on the screen display. The SEL Premium adds on front and rear parking sensors, lane-keeping assist, a surround-view camera system, and an automated parking system.

This trim also gets an upgrade to the telematics, including vehicle location, remote unlocking, and engine diagnostics. All Arteon models also come with child seat anchors and tethers, a pre-collision and post-collision system, and pre-tensioner seatbelts.

This is a well-rounded hatchback-style sedan from Volkswagen, and it comes with a load of standard features without the luxury sedan price. See it today at Orlando VW North, and be sure to contact the dealer regarding current inventory, price incentives, and lease options.
