Orlando Golf Research on the 2016 Volkswagen Model
The VW Golf is one of the most popular and awarded cars in the nation for a good reason - a reason that has everything to do with value. For an affordable price buyers get a lot for their money, as you'll soon see in the continuation of our 2016 Volkswagen Golf review.
Several models are available including the standard two- and four-door hatchback models, which come in base, S, SE and SEL trim levels. In addition to this there's the athletic Golf GTI as well as the performance-oriented Golf R.
The entry-level Golf packs style, fun-to-drive character and loads of features into one excellent package. Buy a base model of the 2016 Volkswagen Golf in Orlando and you'll benefit from standard features like Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone, Bluetooth Audio Streaming, cruise control, heated side mirrors, USB and AUX connections, a touchscreen audio display and other must-have amenities.
Upper trims throw even more features on the list, including a Car-Net infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a navigation system; and intelligent driver-assist technologies like forward collision warning and mitigation, blind-spot warning and automated parallel parking.
The standard powertrain on the Golf base, S, SE and SEL is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder that cranks out 170 hp and 199 lb.-ft. of torque when the car is equipped with an automatic; choosing the available five-speed manual reduces torque to 184 lb.-ft. With 170 horses at one's disposal, the Golf is said to feel more muscular than its competitors according to Edmunds.com's 2016 Volkswagen Golf review. The publication also describes the manual transmission as "easy to shift thanks to a light-effort clutch pedal" and it calls the automatic smooth and quick.
Choose the Golf R and you'll get a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that creates 292 hp and 280 lb.-ft. of torque; it comes with a six-speed manual or you can opt for a six-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox. The next option on the list for those who buy a 2016 Volkswagen Golf in Orlando is the Golf GTI, which comes with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that produces 210 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque; with the optional GTI Performance package horsepower goes up to 220 hp. GTIs get the same transmission options as R models.
