Specs at a Glance
The 2024 Volkswagen lineup makes choosing the perfect SUV easier than ever. Whether you go with the 2024 Taos or the 2024 Tiguan, you'll find the versatility, performance, and fun you're looking for. However, it's important to understand the key differences between these two models.
Performance
As Volkswagen's smallest SUV, the Taos is powered by a turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder engine, producing 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The larger Tiguan, on the other hand, features a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine that delivers 184 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. The front-wheel-drive Taos and all Tiguan models come with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the all-wheel-drive Taos is equipped with a sporty seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Appearance
The 2024 Taos boasts a compact and athletic design, featuring standard LED headlights, roof rails, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The top SEL trim adds 19-inch alloy wheels and an illuminated grille bar. Most Tiguan trims come with front-wheel drive and a standard third row of seats, though opting for all-wheel drive removes the third row. No matter the configuration, the Tiguan includes LED headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and heated side mirrors.
Features
Both the Taos and Tiguan offer a touch of luxury. Standard features for the Taos include a heated steering wheel, digital instrument cluster, 6.5-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The Tiguan adds heated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and push-button start, along with similar infotainment capabilities.
For safety, the 2024 Taos and Tiguan come equipped with features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. Both also offer blind-spot monitoring, with steering assistance to help keep the vehicle in its lane if needed.
