Numerous automakers, including Volkswagen, have entered the electric vehicle market. However, Volkswagen is not merely following the trend; it is producing some of the most innovative electric vehicles in the industry and has garnered accolades for its efforts. In 2024, Volkswagen proudly received the AutomotiveINNOVATIONS Award for its advanced electric drivetrain systems.
2024 AutomotiveINNOVATIONS Award
In 2024, Volkswagen was honored with the AutomotiveINNOVATIONS Award, presented annually by the Center of Automotive Management (CAM). This esteemed award recognizes automakers for excellence in innovative performance and electric mobility. While the award acknowledges various areas of innovation, key focus areas include enhanced charging capabilities, extended range, and improved power consumption.
In addition to these categories, Volkswagen distinguishes itself by making charging easy for its customers. The automaker also impressed CAM with its vehicles’ electric ecosystems. Prior to receiving the award, Volkswagen evaluated nearly 1,000 different innovations aimed at providing its customers with a competitive edge in the growing global electric vehicle market.
Before ultimately awarding Volkswagen in 2024, CAM considered innovations from almost 100 car companies across the US, Asia, and Europe.
Volkswagen’s Electric Vehicle Fleet
Volkswagen’s electric vehicle lineup is part of the ‘ID’ series. This includes several models, with the ID.4 being one of the most popular. The ID.4 offers an estimated electric range of just over 200 miles and can be fully charged at home in about six hours. In 2024, the ID.4 received upgrades with newer, more powerful electric motors, enhancing its output for both single-motor and dual-motor configurations.
Another notable model is the ID. Buzz, an electric van known for its battery preconditioning system and integrated plug-and-charge functions. These innovations contributed to Volkswagen's success in winning the 2024 CAM award. The spacious ID. Buzz features three rows of seats and is available with one or two electric motors.
The latest addition to Volkswagen’s electric lineup is the ID.7, a mid-size sedan expected to achieve a range of up to 350 miles. The ID.7 comes equipped with many standard features and boasts a sleek, stylish design, with options for both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive.
