Volkswagen of America, Inc. recently announced their entry into the world of generative AI through an exciting partnership with Google Cloud, integrating this technology into their myVW mobile app. With Google Cloud’s AI and machine learning capabilities, Volkswagen has developed the new myVW Virtual Assistant, giving vehicle owners seamless access to essential information and services.
This innovative feature is available to MY24 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport owners, allowing drivers to quickly access their vehicle’s manual, learn about dashboard warning lights, or even get guidance on changing a flat tire using Gemini models on Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform. The Virtual Assistant’s multi-modal capabilities also enable users to get information on indicator lights by simply pointing their smartphone cameras at the dashboard.
Volkswagen collaborated closely with Google Cloud throughout the app’s development to ensure that the Virtual Assistant consistently provides accurate, up-to-date information. This partnership not only ensures that the myVW app meets Volkswagen’s rigorous standards but also creates a personalized and enhanced experience for every user.
Starting in 2025, most MY20 and newer Volkswagen owners will be able to access the myVW app. Currently, it’s available on the Apple Store and Google Play Store, so it’s compatible with a wide range of smartphones.
