Volkswagen plans to go all-electric for their cars in 2035 in the European region. They will do so for the U.S. after that.

The head of sales for VW is named Klaus Zellmer and he recently told a newspaper that the goal is for them to have only electric batteries in their cars by the year 2035. They have made focused plans for achieving this goal through what they call the Accelerate strategy.
Their goal is to make it so that 70% of all new VW cars are completely electric by the year 2030. As a result, the last combustion engine vehicles from their line will likely come out in the middle years of the 2030s.
This will take longer in other parts of the world due to difficulties with infrastructure and possible political issues. In particular, other countries may not have the electric stations needed to facilitate people buying electric cars in the first place since they won't have the ability to charge them.
It will also be an issue in terms of the strong regulations from European governments and California to go all-electric around 2035. This is further motivation for Volkswagen to speed up its plans. These regulations call for a full cut in CO2 emissions by around these years.
Another important factor will be how Biden and the U.S. in general plans to add CO2 regulations for other parts of the country outside of California.
One way or another, Volkswagen, like many other manufacturers, will have to worry about going all-electric before too long anyway. If they don't, they will have to worry about falling way behind the other companies. They may even lose their ability to entirely sell to certain countries and jurisdictions.
