How to Turn Off Front Assist?

VW Front Assist

Drivers become distracted all the time, which can lead to accidents. While new features like Front Assist can take a more proactive approach, some people prefer not to use it. Front Assist is a safety feature designed to assist the driver in preventing a forward collision.

A technology developed by Volkswagen, Front Assist, is a combination of other features that work together to ensure a more secure driving experience. But, in some cases, whether it’s because the system is faulty or the driver doesn’t wish to use it, people will opt to disable the safety feature. If you are one of these drivers, then here is how to turn off Front Assist.

Volkswagen developed Front Assist, which combines three different safety features. With Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Pedestrian Monitoring, Front Assist allows the vehicle to use an array of technology to detect and prevent any potential automobile accidents.

It works by using various sensors to detect any impending impacts and will warn the driving by either employing audio or visual cues to warn the driver or braking to slow the vehicle itself. While some people may enjoy this feature, others may not like having the car frequently braking and warning them. Other times, the Front Assist may not be working properly.

Turning off Front Assist is very straightforward. First, you need to enter your car and start the ignition. After you have started the car, you can use the screen interface to do the rest. You may turn on the screen and press the “Car” button located somewhere on the side. Pressing that will lead you to the “Vehicle Status” page. On that page, you will be able to see a “Setup” icon located at the bottom, right-hand corner of the screen.

Once you press “Setup,” you will be taken to the vehicle settings page. Press the “Driver Assistance” button and find the “Front Assist” section of the page. You should be able to see a checked box next to the word “Active” underneath “Front Assist.” Uncheck that box, and the Front Assist feature will be disabled. A notification should pop up on your dashboard, stating that the feature has been deactivated.
