2018 Atlas Earns 5-Star Overall Safety Rating From NHTSA

2018 Volkswagen Atlas

Mom and dad drivers considering the 2018 Atlas as their next crossover will be pleased to learn that it has officially been awarded a 5-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Atlas is the fifth 2018 Volkswagen model to receive this impressive designation, joining the Golf, Jetta, Jetta GLI and Passat.

“The Volkswagen Atlas is designed for the modern American family,” said Hendrik Muth, Senior Vice President, Product Marketing and Strategy. “There’s nothing more important than keeping your family safe and the Atlas is engineered to help do that with excellent structural integrity and numerous available safety and driver assistance features.”

A vehicle’s NHTSA safety rating is based on its performance in a series of crash tests, including front, side and rollover. Thanks to its high-strength steel design and advanced standard safety equipment, including six airbags, electronic stability control, dynamic brake support, rollover sensors, and front and rear crumple zones, the Atlas was able to exceed the rigorous tests and take home the top award.

In addition to the equipment listed above, the all-new Atlas can also be had with a variety of driver assistance systems, all of which offer additional protection for your family. One of the niftier features the crossover offers is Automatic Post-Collision Braking, which is available on most trims. If the airbag sensors are triggered by a collision, this system automatically applies the brakes to reduce the impact.
